Engineered for Nuclear Excellence: Our Commitment to America’s Energy Future

Nuclear energy represents the ultimate intersection of precision engineering and uncompromising safety standards. At CMW (Carver Machine Works) Global, we entered this critical sector with the same methodical approach that has defined our success across four decades, understanding that in nuclear applications, there are no second chances. At Carver Machine Works, we utilize top-of-the-line machinery operated by skilled craftsmen who know how to position and weld discrete parts so they are crafted within a few thousandths of an inch of accuracy. This is done to ensure the high standards required within the nuclear industry are not only met but well surpassed.

Building Nuclear Capability Through Certification Excellence

When we made the strategic decision to serve the nuclear industry, we understood that good intentions weren’t enough. This type of manufacturing demands a level of process control that goes far beyond standard industrial work.

Our ASME “R” and “U” stamps, issued by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, allow us to build and repair pressure-rated vessels that are fundamental to nuclear operations. We have also successfully completed projects by working under our Customer’s existing “N” stamp quality system.

Strategic Growth

CMW Global nurtures strong supply chain partners and creates effective and reliable project integration capabilities. This growth isn’t accidental—it reflects our systematic approach to understanding nuclear industry requirements and building the capabilities to meet them.

Nuclear manufacturing requires more than technical capability; it demands supply chain integrity, documentation protocols, and quality systems that can withstand regulatory scrutiny. Carver Machine Works underwent a 50,000-square-foot facility expansion in 2008 which significantly increased the size and weight handling capacity while providing improvements in manufacturing process flow efficiencies. This expansion wasn’t just about space—it was about creating the controlled environment necessary for this type of component manufacturing.

Precision Materials for Nuclear Applications

Carver Machine Works specializes in titanium, aluminum, hastelloy, inconel, stainless, nickel and various nickel alloys. In nuclear applications, these materials are essential. Hastelloy and Inconel provide the corrosion resistance necessary for reactor environments. Stainless steel and nickel alloys offer the strength and reliability required for pressure boundaries. Our expertise in these materials, combined with our certified welding processes, positions us to handle the most demanding component requirements.

Nuclear facilities operate under extreme conditions—high temperatures, radiation exposure, and corrosive environments that could destroy conventional materials. Our mastery of exotic alloys ensures that components we manufacture can withstand these conditions while maintaining structural integrity over decades of operation.

Engineering Excellence in Quality Systems

At CMW Global, we recognize that precision welding and advanced metal fabrication are the foundation of mission-critical projects across various industries, including aerospace, defense, industrial manufacturing, and energy sectors. In the nuclear energy space, this foundation becomes absolutely critical. Every component we manufacture undergoes rigorous quality control processes that exceed standard industrial requirements.

Our ISO 9001 certified quality system, enhanced by nuclear-specific protocols, ensures that every aspect of manufacturing—from material traceability to final inspection—meets these industry standards. Documentation requirements in nuclear manufacturing are extensive, requiring complete traceability from raw materials through final delivery. Our quality systems support this level of documentation while maintaining the efficiency necessary for commercial viability.

The CMW Global Commitment

In nuclear energy, stringent requirements aren’t obstacles—they’re the foundation of safety and reliability. Nuclear energy provides about 20% of America’s electricity, generated by 98 operating plants across 30 states including three in our home state of North Carolina. These facilities represent critical infrastructure that demands the highest levels of manufacturing excellence. When operators need components that will perform flawlessly for decades, they need partners who understand that this type of work isn’t just about meeting specifications—it’s about exceeding them.

At CMW Global, our nuclear industry footprint reflects our commitment to America’s energy independence and our understanding that nuclear power represents a clean, reliable foundation for our nation’s energy future. When these types of facilities need components manufactured to the highest standards, engineered to last, and certified to perform, they turn to CMW Global—because in nuclear energy, excellence isn’t optional.
