Celebrating National U.S. Navy Aircraft Carrier Month 2025

CMW Global’s Commitment to Naval Excellence

November marks a special time for Carver Machine Works (CMW Global) and the entire Aircraft Carrier Industrial Base Coalition (ACIBC) as we celebrate National U.S. Navy Aircraft Carrier Month. This annual celebration highlights the historic accomplishments of U.S. Navy aircraft carriers, honors the dedicated men and women who serve on them, and recognizes the skilled professionals who build and maintain these remarkable vessels.

At CMW Global, we take immense pride in our contributions to the aircraft carrier program and our seamless partnership with U.S. Naval Defense since 2008. As a proud member of ACIBC, we understand that maintaining America’s growing carrier fleet is essential for both national security and the economic health of suppliers and communities nationwide.

A Legacy Built on Precision

Since our strategic expansion into the Aerospace and Defense Industries in 2008, CMW Global has been proud to support our nation’s naval operations. That pivotal year, we underwent a 50,000-square-foot facility expansion, significantly increasing our capacity and positioning us to meet the exacting standards required for naval defense work.

Today, our business supports naval defense operations, specializing in repairing and overhauling pieces for major systems on aircraft carriers during their mid-life maintenance periods. We also provide build-to-print services for missile defense system subcomponents and specialized applications that demand absolute precision.

The Power of Aircraft Carriers

Our Navy’s large nuclear-powered aircraft carriers (CVNs) represent the most lethal and survivable airfields in the world. These floating cities project power globally while carrying approximately 75 aircraft and housing over 5,000 personnel each.

According to ACIBC, the aircraft carrier industrial base injects 92,000 jobs and $9.2 billion in economic impact into neighborhoods nationwide. At CMW Global’s Washington, North Carolina facility, we’re proud to be part of this vital economic engine while supporting our nation’s defense capabilities.

Certifications That Meet the Mission

The rigors of defense work have helped CMW Global become a better company for all our customers. Our certifications from NADCAP, NAVSEA, ISO 9001:2015, AS9100D, ASME “U” and National Board “R” designations represent our commitment to the quality systems and process controls necessary for mission-critical naval operations.

Materials and Capabilities That Matter

Naval applications demand materials engineered for harsh conditions. At CMW Global, we specialize in high-grade alloys and exotic materials including titanium, aluminum, hastelloy, inconel, stainless steel, and various nickel alloys that provide corrosion resistance and high-temperature capabilities essential for marine environments.

Our 72,000-square-foot facility features 24 feet under hook with 30-ton lifting capacity, operated by skilled craftsmen who position and weld discrete parts with accuracy within thousandths of an inch. This precision is non-negotiable when working on components that protect our sailors and ensure mission success.

Honoring Historic Milestones

As we celebrate Aircraft Carrier Month in 2025, we reflect on the century-long history of these incredible vessels. From the USS Langley (CV 1), the first operational aircraft carrier in the U.S. Navy on November 17, 1924, to the first nuclear-powered carrier USS Enterprise (CVN 65) commissioned November 25, 1961, these milestones represent continuous innovation in naval capability.

The USS Doris Miller (CVN 81) stands as a powerful symbol of resilience and honor. Named after the WWII hero who died November 24, 1943, this future carrier commemorates his bravery during the attack on Pearl Harbor. CVN 81 highlights the enduring legacy of those who fought for freedom while embodying the cutting-edge technology that will shape future naval missions.

Our Commitment Moving Forward

At CMW Global, we recognize that our work directly supports the brave men and women who serve on these magnificent vessels and the next generation of carriers entering the US fleet. Every component we fabricate, every system we overhaul, and every weld we certify contributes to their safety and mission success.

As we celebrate National U.S. Navy Aircraft Carrier Month, we thank our employees, fellow ACIBC suppliers, and especially the sailors who man these ships for making the aircraft carrier program possible. To all who help and serve, we thank you. Together, we ensure that America’s carrier fleet remains the most capable and technologically advanced in the world.
